Following the ‘School Direct’ route into teaching, The Loyne Learning Alliance, in association with The Ripley Teaching Alliance, is excited to be able to offer 12 people the opportunity to train to become teachers during the academic year 2014/15.

This is the course for you if you are:

The course enables you to be based in a school for the majority of the year with the opportunity to learn from outstanding teachers and their pupils. In addition, the Alliance has partnered with the University of Cumbria to give the course the appropriate academic rigour to achieve a PGCE with 60 credits at masters level in addition to gaining Qualified Teachers Status (QTS).

The Loyne Learning Alliance differs to other School Direct courses as, in addition to general primary classroom experience, it offers the chance to have an enhanced experience of working with children and young people with special needs. This places our trainee teachers in the unique position of having access to highly specialised teaching strategies and resources, fully equipping them with the mechanisms necessary for work in today’s mainstream classrooms. Where appropriate, trainees with a particular interest in Special Educational Needs could spend a considerable proportion of their year in a one of our Special Schools.

School Direct's main advantage is the immediate link made with future employers. We cannot guarantee a job at the end of the programme but through the range of experiences in a variety of settings throughout the year, we are confident that you will be in a strong position when applying for your first teaching position.
